Our vision statement, “walk in the world for Christ,” expresses our desire to be a church on the way for a people on the way to deeper life in Christ.
Walk – invites each of us to a journey of deepening relationship with Christ and one another; a reverence for God’s creation; traveling through life at a pace that allows conversation and deep awareness of our community
In the world – suggests a desire to locate ourselves as part of God’s good creation; a desire to impact and transform the world with the love of Jesus
For Christ – reminds us that everything we do we do with, for, and by the grace of God.
We seek to embody in everything we do the core values of hospitality, healing, and hope.
Hospitality: Westover UMC is a multi-cultural congregation with members from every continent. We highly value the global experience and perspective that our diversity brings. We welcome all persons at whatever stage of faith and life you are – seekers, those returning to faith, people with doubts and hurts, as well as those who are seeking a new community of faith. We welcome all ages, genders, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, – we welcome all.
Healing: Westover UMC is a place where you can experience love and acceptance. Pastor Claire holds a quiet place in her heart for those who have experienced trauma, especially spiritual trauma, who are looking for a place to return to a faith based in joy.
Hope: Westover UMC is about creating opportunities for you to experience the joy of Christ in your everyday life. We believe that the future belongs to God, that God can be trusted, and that God is continually inviting all of us to lives of deep faithfulness, trust, and joy.
